Inspiration Poesy!

This photo of Clemence Poesy appeared in the summer spread of In Style Magazine last month and I couldn't stop thinking about it.
It's such a great shot--so typically french. The espadrilles, the hat, and the fun use of mixed prints caught my attention immediately.

Last week I picked up this skirt at the thrift store for a dollar. And as soon as I saw it, I thought of the above photo shoot and how to fake this look on a dime.

Here are the components:
One slightly over-sized mens tee, (courtesy of H&M and the hubby) rolled at the sleeves and knotted at the back. (This item was a $4.99 sale purchase at the end of the season).
One typically french chapeau, tucked over the ears.
 Espadrilles in woven cotton.
And I had a knockoff look for under 25$! This style is such an easy conversion from late summer days into the start of cooler, night weather.
And that's how we take our cues from the pros! Keep shopping those trends! Happy hunting!

Boho for a buck!

How much do we love Calypso Clothing? As my beautiful partner can attest, (she's a design/stylist in their showroom store) their boho sensibilities are always perfection. And I happen to love these Daishiki style tunics they've been showing all summer. (As seen below).

I wanted to find my own, thrift version of this hot top and I came across it last week on a dollar, binge fest!
This tunic has the same length and proportions as the Calypso tunic above, but I thought I'd style it with a classic pencil skirt and go for the tuck-in rather than my usual denim or drapey, maxi-skirt.
I was feeling monochromatic, but a warm pop of cognac gave it that extra hint of color in the form of this vintage braided belt.
Vintage pearl clusters also shifted it from hippie boho, (my usual staple) to ladylike and pulled together.
Some floral wedges for fun...
And simple hoops to keep it clean and classic.
And there you have it. Calypso flavor for a buck.

Love,
