Paisley blazer turns into a dress!

This is Tanya's latest and greatest thrift find. A paisley work blazer, (very early 90's)! We showed you how we took it in with tricks and cheats yesterday.
And here it is now! From boxy to sexy and ready for a night out! This clunky blazer became a sassy, night time, shirt-dress! We added a small leather tie on the inside so that it would stay anchored, just like a traditional wrap dress.
Then we simply moved the button over and hacked off the hem! (See yesterday's tutorial for complete DIY.)
Simple tricks can keep your sewing at a minimum and still give you a hot finish... don't be afraid to try this one at home. Super easy!

Lots of love, ladies...

  1. Wow! You ladies are so great at what you do. I find myself rummaging through my thrift store in search of items I can redo. So far I've found a few dresses that can really use a hand. Thanks for inspiring a young, stay at home mother who's on a beer budget!

  2. This is by far one of my favorite re-designs you have done! Will definately have to dig through my mom's old vintage blazers after seeing this one! Thanks for the continued inspiration!

  4. You guys are literally genius. I am mildly obsessed with this blazer gone wild! Oh and I really like your face in the "before" pic. I have way too many vintage blazers and a few that are actually too long but I couldn't resist because of the color. I think you've got me on to something girls!

  6. So glad you ladies enjoyed this tutorial. Remember, quality fabrics can be tailored, cut, and dyed for a fraction of the price of a new jacket. If you have a lot of blazers at home, take them to your local tailor and ask for a bulk rate of 20$ per piece to take them each in. You'll be amazed at how good they can look again.
