Raffia, Harem & Stripes. Oh my!

We found this beautiful, Jason Wu outfit featured on the runways for Spring 2011. Admittedly, the turban presented a bit of a challenge to "real life" dressing, but we were undeterred and wanted to take a crack at something similar, with our own thrifting twist, of course.

Enter our Spring must: Rafia and stripes.

And how much do we still love the harem? They're the fabulously stylish alternative to sweats or palazzos, and they make you look "oh so seventies", (a personal favorite era of ours).
Here's our version of this look, purchased via thrift!
The harem pants were a silk find, bought during a Sunday madness, dollar sale.
The belt was raffia elastic--a no-brainer for the season.
The adorable, cotton top was another dollar find that had been languishing in my drawer, waiting for the right pairing. In ordinary circumstances I would've thrown it over cut off jeans, but it just felt so current with the silk bottoms.
Aviators took the place of a turban...
...giving it just the right edge.
And wedge sandals completed the trend of using raffia for spring.
But even sans sunglasses this outfit felt just right...
 Welcome spring!

Love,
Noa B

  3. All my harem pants are black cotton with an elasticated waist. Will use this as inspiration to figure out how to wear them.
